NW Whitfield Upends Heritage 4-3 in Region Softball Tournament

Dalton, GA (WDEF) Third ranked Northwest Whitfield edged second ranked Heritage 4-3 in the Region 7-AAAA Tournament Championship game on Thursday night in Dalton. As a result of the Lady Bruins win, the two teams will have to play one more game on Saturday to declare a region champion. That contest is scheduled for noon on Saturday at Northwest Whitfield High School. Ashley Conner wound up with the game winning hit after her RBI single in the third made it 4-2 NW Whitfield. With the score 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th, the Lady Bruins Alyssa Ward made a fantastic diving catch in right field to rob Brooklyn Frazier of extra bases. NW Whitfield's victory was their first in four tries against their rival this season.

Gordon suspension reduced to 10 games
