Cleveland, TN (WDEF) Cleveland high school coach Ron Crawford will be fired up as the Blue Raiders face rival Bradley Central on Friday. But let's be honest, Crawford is fired up every day, and his players enjoy feeding off his entertaining energy.

Ron Crawford gives new meaning to getting pumped for a big game. He does push-ups on the practice field. "I try to do 100 or 250 a day. Somewhere in there. Just a set of 20 or 30 or whatever. Got a little shoulder problem in this old age, so just trying to stay in shape man."

While Crawford stays in shape, he hopes his personality allows his players to stay sharp. "I think just having a consistent personality and trying to be as fair as you can, and loving on the kids, and making them feel apart of something." Said receiver D.J. Jones,"Sometimes when we are down, he'll say a joke or something to make everybody laugh. Everybody just gets back into practice and has more energy." Reporter-"Is he crazy?" Jones laughs,"I wouldn't say he's crazy, but he's pretty wild though."

Crawford admits he's not as wild as his father, who has coached for nearly fifty years. "He was going to burn his shirt. He was going to rip his shirt off, and burn it in front of the team. And he got motivated and fired up, and he ripped his khaki pants off, and he burned them. So there's a little hairy man standing there in his boxer shorts with the smoldering khakis and shirt over to the side. Later, I heard him call my mom saying, bring me some more pants."

Crawford always sounds hoarse, and quarterback Austin Herink couldn't resist mimicking his head coach. Said Herink,"Hey, this game this Friday ain't about them, it's about us, the Blue Raiders okay. Nobody else but the Blue Raiders. Do yo job. Not anybody else's. Do yo job." Added Crawford,"When I was at Brentwood and Riverdale, all the cool kids tried to imitate me. Really Austin is the first nerd or nerdy kid to ever try and do it. He struggles with it somewhat."

I don't know coach. Herink has already fooled others with his impression. Said defensive end Kimsey Bell,"He did a prank. I was with him, and he called one of our friends. Said you need to get to the school because he was in trouble. He showed up at the school. So he did the voice, and he thought it was Coach Crawford."
