New Coaching Jobs For Jason Fitzgerald and John Allen

Hixson coach Jason Fitzgerald has announced he's stepping down in order to take the head coaching job at Meigs Co. Fitzgerald told the Times Free Press that Meigs Co is closer to his home. Fitzgerald posted a 16-8 record at Hixson, and he led the Wildcats on their deepest ever run in the playoffs by making the state quarterfinals last season. 
Former Central coach John Allen has landed a coaching job in Knoxville. He has been named the new head coach at Knox Powell. Allen posted a 10-21 record during his three seasons at Central, but he got the Purple Pounders in the playoffs last year.

A's obtain 1B Davis from Pirates

The Oakland Athletics acquired first baseman Ike Davis from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, three days after he was designated for assignment.

Mocs Drill Furman, Learn FCS Playoff Status Sunday
Jacob Huesman tallied 360 yards of total offense and four touchdowns as UTC closed out a dominant SoCon run with a 45-19 win at Furman. The Mocs finish the year a perfect 7-0 in the Southern Conference outscoring the competition 292-108 in the process. UTC will find out if it was good enough to earn one of the top eight national seeds and a first round bye in the FCS playoffs Sunday morning at 11am.
