Red Bank High School is pleased to announce the hiring of new coaches for both the boys and
girls basketball programs. The boys program will be led by Coach Nick Fike and the girls
program will be led by Red Bank alumnus Coach Bailey Lyness.
Coach Fike has been an assistant at Red Bank on two occasions, along with coaching stints at
Tyner and CSAS. Coach Lyness has been part of the Tennessee Wesleyan Basketball Team that
appeared in the National Tournament in three of the past four seasons. Coach Lyness was a three
sport standout at Red Bank High School and will also be a 10th grade English at RBHS next
school year.
“The Red Bank Basketball Programs are excited to welcome two coaches that will lead these
programs for years to come. The passion that both Coach Fike and Coach Lyness bring is
contagious, and we expect them to have an immediate impact at Red Bank, both on the court and
off the court,” Red Bank Principal Justin Robertson stated.
“I am very thankful for the opportunity and excited to get the ball rolling with the basketball
program at Red Bank High School. They have a lot of pride and tradition here with their athletic
programs, which is something I really like about this school and community,” said Coach Fike.
“I have a strong passion for this sport and I hope to also instill that passion in every player. I
want these boys to succeed not only on the court, but in the classroom, and most importantly, in
life. It is my goal to help them get to the next level, whether it be by way of basketball or by
Coach Lyness stated, “It has always been my dream to be back at Red Bank as a teacher and
coach. I plan to bring passion and heart into the program. I want to build confidence and
character in my players, and it is my hope that Red Bank basketball will have a positive impact
on their lives. I am overjoyed to be in the position I am, and I am very grateful to have been
given this opportunity to teach and coach back home. I remember playing my last game in my
home at RBHS just hoping I would someday be back to coach in this same gym. Coming full
circle from being a player to now being a coach, I couldn't be happier and blessed! It feels good
to be home!”
Coach Markus Watts has also been named the Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach with Coach
Fike. Coach Watts was a featured player at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and also
played professionally. An assistant coach for the girls’ team will be named at a later date.
