Second Ranked Heritage Gets 4 Runs in 7th to Beat Top Ranked NW Whitfield

Ringgold, GA (WDEF) In a battle of the top two softball teams in the state in Class AAAA, 2nd ranked Heritage beat number one ranked NW Whitfield 6-5 after scoring four runs in the bottom of the 7th. The game was tied at two going into the 7th inning. In the top of the 7th, the Lady Bruins took the lead on a Bayli Cruse RBI single up the middle. Later in the inning, they got a couple of more insurance runs on a Macy Weeks base hit to right. Colbie Thomas and Hannah Gordfrey scored to make it 5-2 Lady Bruins. But in the bottom of the 7th, Heritage got a run on a wild pitch and a walk. With the score 5-4, Heritage had the bases loaded. Brooklyn Frazier hit one to short, the throw bounced home and got away from catcher Bayli Cruse. Kurston Henry scored to tie it, and then Katie Pritchett slid home face-first with the winning run. That made the final score 6-5.
