With an 8-1 record this season, Silverdale has secured their first winning record in five years. On top of that, the Seahawks have reached several school milestones. Silverdale has posted eight wins this season, the most in school history. So how are the Seahawks getting it done? Said quarterback Spencer Mossburg,"We're stronger physically. Definitely a more experienced team. More unity because we have played together longer."
Reporter-"Do you think you have surprised people this season?" Said head coach Al Rogers,"I think we have. I don't think we have surprised people that are in close association with this team because I think they know what this team is capable of."
Silverdale is also winning games in the trenches. Said Rogers,"I think we average about 240 across the front line, which is pretty good for a school our size. That's one reason why we do what we do offensively. It's the old wing attitude. Four yards and a cloud of dust."
And since Silverdale is a small school, all those big lineman have to play both ways. Reporter-"Do you get tired during games?" Said Kendall Shoemaker,"Coach says tired isn't in our vocabulary. So I couldn't tell you that."
Thanks to the Seahawks tireless work this season, they entered the state rankings for the first time in school history. They're number eight in the latest 2A poll. Said Rogers,"Of course rankings always make me nervous. I like being the underdog. The Cinderella story or what have you."
Reporter-"How cool is it to be apart of a team that's making school history?" Said Mossburg,"It's incredible. There's not really a better feeling in athletics. It's just something awesome to really be apart of. Like I said, we give God the glory for that."
If the Seahawks beat Grace in their regular season finale, they might host a first round playoff game for the first time in school history. Said Shoemaker,"We're just looking to be playing in December. That's what it's all about."
