Soddy Daisy got another sterling outing in the circle from Kentucky bound Kelsey Nunley to win their 8th State Softball title 7-0 over Daniel Boone.
The Trojans got right to work in the second inning. After an error gave Soddy a 1-0 lead, Olivia Williams tripled down the first base line to bring in two more runs to make it 3-0.
Haley Reynolds broke the game open in the fourth inning, slapping a grand slam to make the score 7-0.
That proved to be more than enough offense for Kelsey Nunley, who held the Lady Blazers to just one hit over seven innings. The Kentucky bound Nunley struck out 12, clocking out 24 of the 26 batters she faced on the day.
The title is Soddy Daisy's 8th, and their 5th in 9 seasons. Coach Clifford Kirk continues to pad his impressive resume. The win was his 10th career title, winning 8 with the Trojans and picking up two with Hixson.
