Chattanooga-(WDEF) Normally, Soddy Daisy and Red Bank play football at the end of August. But this year, they're playing in April.
It's an alumni game of former players. It'll go down on Saturday at 7pm at Red Bank high school with the proceeds benefiting each school. According to 2001 Soddy grad Brian Arnold, Alumni Football USA is putting on the contest, supplying the refs, insurance, and the gear. Yes, this is not a touch football game.
Said Arnold,"It's full contact. Full pads. I mean all the bumps and bruises. We actually have a 59-year-old. Steve Slater, an insurance agent in Soddy. He's coming out to play with us. Former Coach Wolf at Red Bank. I hear he's going to play for Red Bank. He's 59-years-old as well. These guys graduated in 1972."
