Three Vols Football Players No Longer With the Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee defensive back Deion Bonner, and defensive linemen Omari Phillips and Trent Taylor are no longer with the football program.


Their departures were first reported Tuesday by the Knoxville News-Sentinel and were confirmed by athletic department spokesman Jimmy Stanton.


All three players were freshmen this season.


Bonner played seven games in 2012 before being suspended indefinitely in November for a violation of team rules. Phillips and Taylor each played in one game.


Bonner was rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals and ESPN and a three-star recruit by 247Sports and Scout. Taylor was rated a four-star prospect by Scout and a three-star recruit by Rivals, ESPN and 247Sports. Phillips was a consensus four-star recruit.
