The Titans want to avoid another dreadful 1-4 start this season, but it won't be easy. Tennessee's first two games are on the road, including their opener against the always tough, Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Titans spent a $100 million beefing up their team in the off-season with the bulk of the bucks going into the offensive line. Now those new guys will line up against a defense that allowed the fewest yards in the league last season. Said Titans head coach Mike Munchak,"Well they want to win it upfront. They'd love more than anything to shut down our run game and make us one dimensional and go after us with the blitz packages they like." Added safety Bernard Pollard,"They know how to fight. We need to fist up. Be ready to throw the first punch, and throw it for 60 minutes."

The Titans defense didn't have much fight last year, but they'll need some on Sunday to try and corral Ben Roethlisberger. Said linebacker Moise Fokou,"One of those guys that just does a great job of extending the play. You know what I mean. A play is supposed to last three or four seconds. He makes it last five, six, or seven. He's not looking to just run it or check it down. He's looking to make a big play when he extends the play."

Both teams sound anxious to finally get the season going. Said Roethlisberger, "The thing about the first game of the year is it kind of sets the tempo. Usually it should set the tempo for your season. That being said, me personally and us as a team, we want to come out and set an early tempo." Said Pollard,"We've got to understand the environment we're about to step into. We've go to understand the team we're about to play. First game of the season. Team that's excited. A team that's going to come out and play its best ball." Added Titans quarterback Jake Locker,"An opportunity to go into a tough stadium and play against a really good football team. They're sound. Don't make a lot of mistakes or give you a lot of opportunities. You've got to play really good for four quarters to beat them. So it's a great test for us early on."

The Titans and Steelers kick at 1pm on Sunday, and the game will be televised on WDEF News 12.
