Beech high school running back Jalen Hurd announced on Thursday morning that he has verbally committed to play college football at Tennessee. The 6'3, 230-pound Hurd is a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com., and he's rated as the 15th best recruit in the nation. Last year, he broke the TSSAA single season rushing record with 3,357 yards and 43 touchdowns. In Beech's state championship game against Columbia Central, Hurd ran for 394-yards with seven touchdowns, which broke BlueCross Bowl records. Hurd told the Tennessean that he believes in what new head coach Butch Jones is doing at Tennessee, adding that Coach Jones wants to restore the tradition of excellence and win national championships.
