ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Braves starter Kris Medlen has left the game against the Toronto Blue Jays after taking a liner off his left leg.
Medlen was struck on the back of the leg, just below his knee, on a hard-hit ball by Emilio Bonifacio in the second inning Wednesday. He flexed the leg before deciding to stay in the game, but walked Munenori Kawasaki and surrendered a two-run single to Melky Cabrera that gave the Blue Jays a 3-0 lead.
Medlen finished out the inning but was replaced by David Carpenter in the third, having allowed four hits and three earned runs.
The team says Medlen sustained an upper calf contusion and should be OK for his next start.
