Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - A second MRI taken on the injured right hip of Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Jake Locker confirmed no major damage.

"We received reassuring reports from the second MRI today and they confirmed that there was no major damage to Jake Lockers hip joint -- it is classified as a sprained hip," read a statement released by the Titans on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Locker will not need to undergo the knife and he will miss a few weeks.

"The area will need time to heal and strengthen, but he won't require surgery and he has already begun a rehab routine for both his hip and knee. We certainly would expect him to miss a few weeks, but we are encouraged by the news today."

Locker was injured during Sunday's win over the Jets when he was dropped by Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson moments after making a throw.

Before getting injured, Locker was in the midst of his best game as a pro, completing 18-of-24 passes for 149 yards and three touchdowns to open a sizeable lead for the Titans, who improved to 3-1 on the season.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will become the team's starter. He filled in under center on Sunday and threw for a touchdown and 108 yards.

The Titans host the 4-0 Kansas City Chiefs this coming Sunday.
