Sunday night's Grammy awards brought plenty of Amy-O-Meter fodder.
Forget the crazy outfits (Lady Gaga wore what?) and the acceptance speeches.  (Really Adele?  You couldn't just quietly grab a tissue?)
The Grammys are all about the music.
First off, I had to give out a couple of perfect "10s."
If anyone had any doubt why LL Cool J was picked to be the first host in like seven years, just look to how he handled Whitney Houston's death.  In my opinion, he hit the perfect tone at the beginning of the show.  Full disclosure: I'm a pretty big LL fan...  But I still think he hit a perfect note with that prayer.
The Jennifer Hudson memorial was also incredible.  What a beautiful way to pay tribute to the woman who influenced every wanna-be singer growing up in the 80s and 90s.
My other Amy-O-Meter "10" goes to the Beach Boys reunion.
I loved the nod to the 60s styles worn by Foster the People, and the look of pure joy on Mark Foster's face when he was on stage, singing with the remaining members of the Beach Boys.
I thought it was a fun tribute to a band that did so much.
My Amy-O-Meter "1" without a doubt goes to Nicki Minaj.
Now I will be the first person to admit I haven't really followed Minaj's career, but I fell like even her most ardent fans were a bit confused after her "The Exorcism of Roman" performance.
Was she trying to out-Gaga Lady Gaga?  I was just confused.

Nicki Minaj, I just didn't get it. Deadmau5 ditto. Weird. I did not like the Maroon 5 Beach Boys rendition, I can hold a tune better than that. Adele, Band Perry and Blake Shelton in the Glen Campbell tribute, and McCartneys close with Beatles were the highlights for me.
