It's an event 75-years in the making.

As you wake up this morning, take note that it's National Donut Day, and several locations will be offering you a free donut.

Daylight Donuts and Krispy Kreme have freebies, just for stopping in.  At Dunkin' Donuts, you get a free donut with the order of a beverage.

Salvation Army red kettles will be at Daylight Donuts and Dunkin' Donuts today collecting donations.  That's because the Salvation Army "invented" the donut.  In World War I, young women served our service men on the front lines of war, fried dough as a sweet treat from home.  They quickly became known as “Donut Girls” and their treats “donuts.”

I want some daylight donuts!

Have plans tomorrow (6/1)? Celebrate National Donut Day at U.S. DDs & enjoy a free donut w/ Dunkin’ bev purchase.
