Black Friday is much more of a marketing holiday than it was years ago.
Back then, it wasn't Walmart, Toys R Us or Best Buy that called the tune.
It was the department stores and malls.
For this edition of From The Archives, we take you to Black Friday in 1984.
First, the overall report from reporter Gene Pinder.  (Can you spot the vintage Tandy computer... we've put a white circle around it to help).
   The reporter is Terry Lewis.

Next, a report on shopping for toys.
Gene Pinder will tell us about toy safety, and then ask whether shoppers can get a Cabbage Patch Doll.
Can you find the Battling Robots or Michael Jackson dolls?
Again, our white circles will assist you.

And we have a Black Friday bonus from 1986.
Christmas on the River (when we could still use the word "Christmas" without city officials flinching).
