The former band director of South Pittsburg High School is under federal investigation.

Marion County Director of Schools Mark Griffith tells News 12 Roy Gene Walsh voluntarily resigned Friday after he met with investigators and Griffith.

Williams is a native of Grundy County and served in the Sheriff's department there.

Heavy Rain Contributes to Deadly Marion County Interstate Wreck

Heavy rains overnight may have been a contributing factor to a fatal collision on Interstate 24 in Marion County.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the wreck happened around 3-30 this morning near the Martin Springs Road exit.

A year after Tennessee's ban on smoking in public places took affect, Doctors report an increase in people trying to quit.  The ban impacts most restaurants and office buildings.  Doctors say the law, by itself, didn't prompt anyone to kick the habit, but it did add to the list of reasons to quit.
