Do you consider these local projects "Pork?" (see stories)

I agree on the cemetary and

I agree on the cemetary and the lock being non-pork issues, followed by Low Birth Weight Studies and Policing/Drug Court funds.

I CAN SEE THE LOCK AS A

I CAN SEE THE LOCK AS A NECCESSITY.. ITS THE RIVERFRONT & RIVERPARK "BAND-AID" PROJECTS THAT DISGUST ME AND SEEM LIKE A WASTE. THEY DIDN'T FIX ANYTHING AROUND THAT INCLUDING HOMELESS PROBLEMS OR THE PROJECTS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER; JUST THE SCENERY. CLEAN IT UP A BIT? SURE! DECORATE IT WITH EXPENSIVE BRIDGES, PIERS, STAIR-CASES, AND WADING POOLS? GIVE ME A BREAK. THE AREA COULD HAVE BEEN UPGRADED MUCH CHEAPER WITH A PLAYGROUND, TREES, AND PICNIC TABLES.

Only projects which benefit

Only projects which benefit the larger society, outside the area in which the money is being spent, should be funded with federal dollars.

The lock project will benefit a huge area of the country, because of the massive tonnage of shipping which is being kept off the interstate system.

The Military park and cemetary, is honoring those who served their country, and gave their lives for it, and should also be funded with federal money. After all, none of us would have the freedom we have without those sacrifices.

Fuel cell research could benefit every one in the country and the world.

Any project or research which could have wide ranging effects on the country, should qualify for federal funding.

Just about everything else is primarily going to benefit the local citizens most, if not exclusively, therefore they should be funded locally.

the lock an cemetery are the
