Do you want school children to see the speech from the President on Tuesday

Why is it liberals bashed, criticized and called Former President Bush names and viewed themselves as being good outspoken American citizens? If anyone says anything negative about President Obama, they are automatically classified as a bigot and a racist. How is it that this thought process only works one way? If you support the president you are an educated American with progressive thought process, but if you oppose him you must be uneducated and closed minded. Has anyone ever stopped to think it may simply be the policies we do not agree with and not his skin color. If Michael Steele ran for president I would support him. If Colin Powell ran, I would support him. If i had of lived in Ill. when Obama was challenged by Allen Keyes I would have supported Keyes. Uneducated bigots like to pull the race card and accuse individuals of bigotry and racism if they disagree with a minority. When will you learn, it is you who is keeping the race issue alive. Let's discuss the policies that make up the administration and not the Presidents skin color. I have not heard 1 person who opposes the president talk about his race. I have heard many people who support him use his race as a weapon. Just my thoughts.

I'm sick of people bashing Obama, WAKE UP PEOPLE, Bush's greediness has made us all poor, I have an idea, take off your racial blinders, and let's try something different, because what we were offer before is not working....obviously. I think to fix the problem, is to fix the welfare system or totaly cut it out completely, if they would do that, they wouldn't have to propose this new health care BS they are trying to pass on us tax payers!

It amazes me how people think that if they come on these boards with their "INVISIBLE RED INK PENS" and correct every comment made, that it validates "them" as being educated. I think not!!! Leave your comments about the topic at hand, and stop feeling the urge to spell check everyone's else's comments. CASE IN POINT "You read it, you understood it, and you got the point."; otherwise, you couldn't reply to it. GROW UP!

Of course I want my child to hear the president, why is this such a BIG DEAL???

"Controversies" over such mundane issues as an apolitical fluff speech to students proves that this country is getting dumber by the second.

After reading a few of the comments posted I must say I think some of the parents need to go back to school! I wonder if they consider the harm they are causing by teaching their children to be bigots and racists. I would much rather my child hear from our president than some of these people who are contributing to the spread of hatred in this country.

I encourage my children all the time, I don't want "that one" uttering a single word to my precious gifts.

He's on TV more than "leave it to beaver"! Even the most mundane of speeches offered by his teleprompter, will without doubt led credibility in the eyes of children. If I wanted to see or hear him I'd turn on MSNBC.

On a positive side, the more time he wastes speaking to the undereducated state run schools, the less time he has to make a continued mess of our Republic.

I think this is a great thing. Only in the South would we oppose this, because we still can't accept the fact we have a black man as our President. Hopefully within the next few years, this will not be such a big deal but unfortunately, it will probably never change. My son is home sick today, but I will let him hear this. I also tell him the importance of education, and if it were another president (white and republican), this would not be such a big deal in this city. So so sad.

I THINK IT SHOULD BE AN HONOR FOR OUR KIDS TO GET A VISIT FROM THE PRESIDENT.YOU LET THAT HALF WIT BUSH READ BOOKS TO THE CHILDREN WHEN WE WERE IN A NATIONAL CRISIS AND HES RETARTED.IT JUST THE BUSH/CHENEY FREAKS WHO ARE AGAINST IT.THE PRESIDENT IS DOING THE BEST HE CAN WITH THE MESS LEFT BY YOUR WONDERFUL DUMB DUO.SHUT UP AND LET YOUR KIDS GET A CHANCE OF A LIFE TIME,OR IF YOUR THAT STUPID ON YOUR BUSH CRUSH THAN KEEP THEM AT HOME.

As the American public is starting to realize the true ways of the administration from their choices of radical czars and cramming new legislation into law without properly presenting to american public. How can any American not have concern with all actions of the present administration, they have taken advantage of the American people trust in the goodwill of their government for their own advancement of control of the American people life. Free speech should be up held but not by imposed on a captive audience without choice, More transparency in which the administration praises, I think would be appropriate when addressing the children of America.

Why all of the sudden is everybody so upset about the president giving a speech to our children ? Other presidents have done it without all that fuss. I guess I thought we had crossed a bridge when President Obama was elected, but we made a mistake by not burning the bridge, after the crossing ,cause it seems like we are going back 100 years. Yes to the speech.

Lets give the kids some credit for being able to listen to an encouraging talk from the President without expecting them to be "brainwashed". Kids don't carry all the baggage that adults do and they read adults pretty well. Give the kids a chance to listen and then question them on their opinion of the talk.
However, if all you want to do is fight the President, then don't stand up to support free speech anymore.
