INFO. ON REGULATIONS FOR GAS STATIONS ON PREPAYED GAS PURCHASES
Submitted by Guest (not verified) on January 8, 2009 - 2:54pm.
For some reason about all of the gas stations in Calhoun Ga. how gone to prepayed status. What I have found though is a vast difference where the pump cuts off before reaching the prepaid amount. Example: Some stations cut pump off as little as 25 cents before reaching prepaid amount and some stations its as much as a dollar before reaching the prepaid amount.I am wanting to know where I can find out about the government regulations reguarding the legal allowed pump cut off range for gas stations. Some how this doesn't seem right because that companies can get away with this. Anyone with common sense knows that companies are beating patrons out of gas doing this! A way to see this is by using a clear container and prepaying for gas ...watch the gas flow and see when pump cuts off and the slowing of the gas flow after pump shuts off before reaching amount purchased! If anyone can help me to find out more about this please let me know!

Gas Gouging
Submitted by Kelli (not verified) on September 16, 2008 - 7:44am.
There are 2 stores located directly across from one another. Cleveland Highway and Ga 2. At the Kangaroo it's 3.87 at the Shell station it's 4.99. If that's not price gouging, I don't know what is. How is it that stores are able to get away with that?

WHAT'S GOING ON HERE & WHY
Submitted by Michael Goldman (not verified) on June 28, 2007 - 12:22pm.
Why is it that the gas companies can make 10 BILLION Dollars PROFIT in one quarter and the government does not do anything to them. If another company posts that much profit the government will step in for price fixing or monopoly. Also, why have the oil companies NOT BUILT a new refinery in over 20 years.... You would think with that much profit they could update there refineries or build new ones. Something is wrong here, and we're PAYING FOR IT.

B/c thats part of a free market. You do not have government power influencing things like that, and thats what makes the united states what it is. thats part of why people come to this country. as much as it sucks to have the companies making that much money, its not right for the government to try and rule private businesses like that. that is giving the government WAY to much power.
also, its not a monopoly b/c theres plenty of competition for gas as indicated by the numerous companies that own gas stations. it all boils down to the speculators and the principle of supply and demand.

Thousands of companies make
Submitted by Guest (not verified) on September 16, 2008 - 11:14am.
Thousands of companies make more than the oil companies every quarter and the government has not and should not do anything about it. The media only hypes up this one. We live in a free market society. Success should not be punished. Profits in any business are offset by investment. Big oil is getting back around 10% of the investment. There are very many companies that get a lot more than 10% back. The reason why oil companies have not built any new refineries is because democrates will not allow them to do it. Environmentalist own the liberals and will not allow a new refinery, nuclear energy or clean coal plants to be built. Repubs have been trying for 2 decades. The only two laws that passed both the house and senate for any of these was vetoed by Bill Clinton. Quenn Pelosi knows this and she uses it to keep power.

gas prices
Submitted by Valerie Garlet (not verified) on June 27, 2007 - 10:13pm.
I would love to know why the Gas companies need to be making so much money when we as "working poor" have to stuggle so bad to even keep gas in our car just to get to work. As it is we can barely pay our expenses, and keep enough gas in our cars. Big oil companies need to loose some profits and make it so we can afford gas to get to work.

Losers Gripe About Gas Prices
Submitted by Your own fault (not verified) on November 20, 2007 - 4:48pm.
What's wrong with this picture? A successful business venture (just to make sure you get the point... I'm talking about the oil companies here) is drawing fire from its customer base. You are all willing to pay these prices for gas. You are satisfied with what you buy. You are not willing to make life changes to cut back on usage to drive down costs. Get REAL!!!!! Don't go begging for the government to put in artificial price controls. You just want someone else to bail you out. Quit whining! You sound like a bunch of communists or European socialists. If the government sounds like a solution to high gas prices to you, then get ready for $5/gallon. Don't pitch a hissy fit. Do something about it. Sell your home out in the suburbs and buy something close to work. That should help out with problems in inner city schools, too. Put your butt on a bike and ride to work. Might be a good idea after the feast this Thursday anyway. The last thing that needs to be done is penalizing a successful company for providing their customer base with as quality product for a price everyone seems willing to pay. You don't take profit from people because they are smart and capable of managing a business. That kills the spirit of American entrepreneurship. It sounds like a bunch of sniveling Euro-socialists threatening their "Royals" yet never having the brains or fortitude to build anything of value. Losers blame others for their problems... and always want someone else to bail them out. Asking the government to "fix" gas prices or "tax" the profits out of companies is like waiting around for a welfare check.

losers gripe my reply!!
Submitted by Nell (not verified) on September 12, 2008 - 8:07am.
It sounds to me that the person who wrote this works for the (Big OIL COMPANIES!)and maybe afraid to lose a penny. No we are not willing to pay these prices for gas, we simply do not have a choice! Not if you have to support a family. It's just a fact, if you are of the working class you must drive to get there. And not all people live close enough to thier jobs to ride a bike. Some people can't just move closer to thier jobs either. But maybe this whinny person could step in and foot the bill. FYI the big oil companies are gauging the population!!!They do this every time the winds of a hurricane blow. And I might add that if this person is sounds like he is in favor of the American entrepreneurship, ripping off the americans. So in my personal opinion he needs to get off his high horse and get real, and know a little bit more of what he is talking about before he speaks.
