It was a celebration of service in North Georgia, with a reunion and remembrance of the 6th U.S. Calvary in Fort Oglethorpe. This year marks the 113th anniversary of the 6th U.S. Calvary.
The museum celebrated with a focus on World War II veterans.
The event featured battle re-enactments and a display of various pieces of war machinery, including tanks and machine guns.
General Patton was even in attendance to give a pep talk to the troops. It was a chance to focus on the sacrifices made by what's been called the "Greatest Generation"
"It gives all of us a chance to say thank you and it gives them a chance to visit with the other World War II Veterans that they may not know live close by to them," said Chris McKeever with the 6th U.S. Calvary Museum.>
"We knew what was right and wrong and we tried to do what we were supposed to do, when we were supposed to do it," added World War II Veteran Ray Gray.
