CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Chattanooga police arrested a man who was wanted for a violent rape that occurred in February.

Anthony Vance, 50, of Chattanooga was taken into custody on Thursday. He was charged with one count of aggravated rape and one count of aggravated assault.

According to a complaint affidavit, Vance allegedly beat up a woman and then dragged her by her hair behind Engel Stadium. He reportedly held the woman at knife point and raped her.

The woman told police the sexual contact was unwanted and that she yelled for help before Vance allegedly threatened to kill her if she continued to yell.

In the police report, investigators found visible injures on the victim.

On Monday, the woman reportedly picked Vance out of a photo lineup.

On Thursday, police were called to the Chattanooga Community Kitchen on a disorderly call where they spotted Vance inside the lunch room. He was taken into custody without incident.

WDEF spoke to many people inside the Community Kitchen who either knew Vance or recognized him.

According to several people who frequent the Community Kitchen, Vance was a regular there who often did cleanup work.

"When I first met him I though he was alright until I got to know him real good. What kind of vibe did you get from him? Well later on a weird vibe. Most people didn't like him and he didn't get along with too many people," said David Currington.

Several people at the Kitchen told WDEF that Vance had a history of public confrontations with other people.

WDEF has also learned the alleged rape was well known by many people in the homeless community who frequent the Community Kitchen. Several people told WDEF they knew about the rape through word of mouth.

This isn't the first time Vance has had a brush with the law. He has a criminal rap sheet that dates back to the early 90's. In 2012 he was arrested for aggravated rape but the case was dismissed. In 1997, Vance plead guilty to a rape charge and  spent a year in jail. He's also been arrested numerous times for burglary and assault. In all, Vance has been arrested nearly 30 times since 1993.

He remains in the Hamilton County jail on a $150,000 bond.

According to court documents, he has been assigned a public defender.
