Chattanooga-(WDEF) The Baylor swimming program is turning into an All-American factory. This week, ten Red Raiders earned All-American honors, which could possibly lead the country.

Baylor coach Dan Flack says you can pretty much spot an All-American swimmer just by watching the time clock. "Most of them knew because there are certain time standards that if you swim under a certain time, you are automatically picked. And just about all of these had done that."

Sam McHugh highlighted a group of six boys from Baylor who earned All-American status. "It's a big honor, and I'm happy to be an All-American here at Baylor."

Four Baylor girls made All-American, including Hannah Peiffer and Kristen Vredeveld, who have been named All-Americans before. Said Peiffer,"Yes it means a lot. It's an honor. It's something you can brag about I guess." Added Vredeveld,"I mean it's a big honor. There are only a couple of hundred maybe people in the country that have that."

Reporter-"How many All-Americans does Baylor have?" Said Flack,"Oh boy. Probably 75 I'd say over the years. And probably in the last six years about 30 or 40. We have a rich tradition of producing that type of performance, and we really want to keep on producing them."

And the All-American life of a swimmer sounds sooo glamorous. Said Vredeveld,"Eat a lot. Sleep. And then get ready to go again." (laughter)

Reporter-"In you opinion, what does it take to be an All-American?" Said McHugh,"Takes hard work, dedication, and lots of focus to be an All-American."

Baylor has a "Hallway of Fame" with pictures of their All-Americans. Said McHugh,"Just by walking by those plaques every day, it helped me to reach my goal." Said Peiffer,"I would always stop and look at the pictures and want to be on the wall. So it was a motivation." Added Vredeveld,"I knew I wanted to have my face on that board, and that it would be so exciting to be up there with those great Baylor swimmers."
