CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)-Just after 5pm yesterday 47-year old Thomas Holland used a gun to force his way into the CVS Pharmacy on Hixson Pike.
Holland reportedly demanded pills and told Pharmacist Tom Rawls to drive him away from the store.
That's when Rawls picked up a metal pipe and took down the suspect.
Johnny Francis, Customer and friend of Rawls,"I don't blame him a bit, i would have more than likely done the same thing"
However Neighboring businesses are concerned.
Tyler Matthews, Urban Tan, Hixon Pike,"We don't keep a lot of cash in the register though so it definitely wouldn't be worth the while but of course it crosses my mind, you know think what would you do and where would you go, we only have one entrance and one exit"
Mike DeAngelis Director of PR for CVS told News 12.
"We are working with local police in every we can, the safety of our staff and customers is paramount. We are open for business"
Rawls has been declared a hero by his customers.
"I think there needed to be something done, kind of surprised it happened here though, outer you would expect it"
Rawls held Holland until police arrived.
47 year old Holland faces a charge of Aggravated Robbery.
Holland was previously arrested in 1999 and is from the Cleveland area.
