The Automotive Cleaning Professionals at Chattanooga Detail, LLC opened up shop.

Beau Gilliland and David Hopkins, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduates and Co-Owners of Chattanooga Detail, LLC, revealed their green plan after hours of research in the classroom. They looked at traffic statistics between MLK and Market Street downtown. The aggregate amount of vehicles within a ten mile radius showed almost two hundred thousand vehicles in the area.

After seeing those statistics, the co-owners wanted to invest in an environmental friendly car detail business. They purchased a steam cleaner that has become popular in Europe and states out west. Gilliland said, "Being able to use steam and water vapor as an alternative can be a huge draw to people that may have allergies, or are just interested in having the ability to go green."

On average, a drive thru car wash uses 38 gallons of water per vehicle. Chattanooga Detail, LLC operates with only 2 gallons of water per vehicle. The steam alternative not only uses less water, but also eliminates all chemicals. Another unique aspect included in their business is a pick up and delivery option. Customers who live within ten miles of their shop on Dayton Boulevard can receive this for free with any detail purchase.
