TRENTON, GA, (WDEF)-Dade County Sheriff's Office hope they will have K9 vests like these used by Chattanooga Police, for their dogs before it's too late.
Sargent Angle,"These are very special officers, they do a great job for us, as far as drug seizures, they do search very very well"
The Trenton based K9 Unit's two German Shepherds are also regularly used to track fugitives in North Georgia.
"Our k9 dog Ferro tracked a subject down that ran from officers when they tried to arrest him, he was in some wooded area and Ferro tracked him down in less than 15mins"
With a Pittsburgh,PA, K9 officer called Rocco killed in the line of duty less than 48 hours ago, Dade County Sheriff's Office are now receiving support from K9 Vest activist Robin Scott.
"An Office they have the ability to step back and analyze a situation before they go into it, with a dog they don't have that option, they just go and so they don't make a conscious decision to say i need to back off, they just go"
Robin says this all about protecting those who protect us.
"The human officer a little more ability with their partner that they have adapted and spent 24/7, its something they can give to them, so they can both go home safe at night, that's our main goal"
The Sheriff's Office are limited in how they can raise money for the dogs so Robin and her organization In-Vest in K9 will spend tomorrow and Sunday at Ingles in Trenton asking for donations.
In-Vest in K9 say donations for the Dade dogs can also be made at any FSG bank.
