One Dalton High School senior brought brownies to school with the intent to sell them at lunch... But they weren't just ordinary brownies.
Bruce Frazier, Public Relations Speciailist with the Dalton Police, says
18 year old Hunter Chase Cleary was arrested after Assistant Principal Steve Bartoo got a tip from an unidentified student that Clearly was selling 'pot Brownies' at school and contacted Dalton Police.
A female student had already eaten a brownie she bought for ten dollars, and bought a second brownie for one of her friends.
So far she hasn't been charged.
"These brownies had marijuana in them, and there was also some marijuana in the student's car."Frazier says "Certainly once you change it into a form like brownies where it's not as easily identifiable it is a challenge to spot, especially for teachers and parents, but some of the suggestions are the same."
Dalton Public School Officials declined to comment on camera, but say Bartoo handled the incident the right way.
But it still leaves Dalton parents with concerns.
Larry Lavan says he would be appalled if he knew his children had partaken in pot brownies.
"Teachers, principals, and faculty at school should be aware of anything brought from home," he says.
Lavan says he's not sure his kids would know the difference in a regular brownie and a Pot Brownie if another student had brought them to school.
Frazier says "Pot brownies are definitely not a new idea. They've been around since the 50s and 60s."
That's why Frazier says it's important to watch out for pot brownies just like any other drug activity.
