A Whitfield County Sheriff's Deputy is accused of theft during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Scott Chitwood says he asked the GBI to conduct the investigation. He also met with the district attorney. They found enough evidence to charge James Robert Keown with theft by taking and violation of oath by a public officer. Keown turned himself in to the Whitfield County Detention Center. After completing the booking process Keown was released on his own recognizance.
