CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)- Four men aged between 18 and 25, all with previous convictions and a woman were taken into custody on Friday evening.

Their addresses range from Nashville, Knoxville and right here in Chattanooga.
Felix Vess of Chattanooga Housing Authority Police told News 12.

"We arrested a number of men and a woman, searched their car finding marijuana and a weapon with it's identification information scratched out as well as burglary tools".

The arrests came after the car the men were driving in was caught speeding near 2228 East 26th Street.
Police also found walkie-talkies and equipment that could be used for burglaries.

Local business managers say they are not afraid.

"A lot people that do these stupid crimes, are stupid people, stupid is what stupid does".

Michael Housley of Team Air Distributing says they have licensed fire arms and high powered security cameras on their premises just in case.

"People are living in desperate times, stealing and breaking in places, I hear about it a lot, i'm just been blessed it hasn't happened to me yet."

Gerry Smith of Hayward Bolt and Speciality has advice for home and business owners in East Lake.

"Just be extra vigilant in your area, know you surroundings and don't walk out with a blind eye, have tunnel vision, be aware of your surroundings".

Chattanooga Housing Authority Police say they are unaware of where the men and woman are right now and whether they were released from custody or not.
East Lake community members told News 12 off camera,
"These arrests and issues are not going away and education is the only way to get out of a life of crime",
