SODDY DAISY, TN, (WDEF)- Jeremiah Nichols is seven years old and along with his twin Steven he loves playing basketball, frisbee and sword fighting.

But just a few days ago Jeremiah was at TC Thompson Children's hospital after what his family now believes was a severe case of West Nile virus causing inflammation on the brain.

Jeremiah Nichols, Victim,"Blew two veins, they put two needles in me, they been given me medicine in my veins"

For Jeremiah's mother Aeriel Fouts this has been a holiday period to forget.

"Planning my seven year old son's funeral to bringing him home and thank god he's home and he's okay"

For the twin's proud grandfather being able to say thank you to Erlanger doctors and nurses is just the tip of the iceberg.
He wants other families to be careful if their kids are playing outside this summer.

"As much Deet on as you can get the highest Deet you can get, protect the children the best you can and yourself, this ain't only for children, adults can get this too"

At the Hamilton County Health department they have these words of advice for parents and families who are concerned about their child contracting west Nile virus or something else by a mosquito.

Margaret Zylstra, Epidemiology Nurse Manager,"Just looking at places where their might be water left over from rain watering plants, bird baths, dog watering dishes, emptying and cleaning those out on a daily basis"

Officials added that many of us are actually bitten by mosquitoes carrying West Nile's on a regular basis but not all of us react in the same way.
