It's a story that started in 1944. The day Charlotte Sexton was born, in a two story house in Cleveland, Tennessee.
"My mother told me that I was named after a Charlotte Blocker and I was always curious about who that person was all my life. My mother was having a very difficult birth with me and her father-in-law went out and got a midwife to help deliver me. Charlotte was just running up and down the stairs trying to help my mother," says Sexton.
At 21, one Charlotte bringing another into the world.
"Charlotte told me when I came out of the womb that the midwife handed me to her and she held me and she kissed me on the cheek and I think we bonded like mother and children do when the mother first holds the baby," says Sexton.
"I kept running up and down the steps going upstairs to be up there when the baby was born but yet I couldn't hardly stand the mother's birth pains. When the baby was born the midwife handed her to me and I took her and loved her and kissed her," says Blocker.
Charlotte Sexton moved to South Carolina, never knowing what happened to the woman from that small house in Cleveland.
"I never forgot about her all these years and I've always had a love in my heart for her, and that's what kept me going on to try and find Charlotte," says Sexton.
68 years later, thanks to the internet..and a phone call...
"Charlotte, do you know anything about a girl that was born in Cleveland Tennessee that's been named after you? And I heard Charlotte in the background say I most certainly do and my heart just leaped with joy, I was just like I found my Charlotte and I started crying," Sexton remembers.
"I was joyed with happiness to know that we'd made the connection again. We've just been lovey-dovey ever since," adds Blocker.
The two are back together, the story that began in 1944, beginning again.
"I felt her love from the time that she held me and I just feel now that I'm satisfied in my heart."
On another happy note, both Charlottes are breast cancer survivors, Sexton for over five years, and Blocker for over 20 years.
