CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF): Gunfire on a Soddy Daisy residential street led to a high speed police chase Wednesday night.
Neighbors heard a sound they thought was a firecracker, but ended up being gun shots. A neighbor close to where the gunshots were fired said, "We were sitting in the living room, and her sister came in and the car followed them from the gas station. They went down there and turned around and came back." The victims that had been shot at on Hemlock Street in Soddy Daisy called 911. They jumped back in their car and began following the suspects.
Soddy Daisy Police Department said the vehicles were driving recklessly at speeds up to 110mph until officers were able to pull them over on highway 111. Johnny Sullivan, Soddy Daisy said, "I think its pretty bad that violence is just so open on the streets. No regard to shooting out of a car. There could have been a kid in it. That end of the street has several kids that live on that end of the street I know. The neighbor who wanted to remain unidentified for the safety of his children said this needs to stop. The neighbor close to the scene of the gunfire said, "It's just not right for the kids safety. They have grandkids across the street. I mean this a residential area. There's kids all over. There's kids over here playing everyday."
18 year old, Shayne McCaleb, has been charged with 3 counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. 19 year old, Christopher Reagan, has been charged with criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of a firearm, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
