Holly Bryan has a unique way of making students feel like they're the most important person in the world.

Bryan practices positive reenforcement with her Kindergarten class at Pelham Elementary, telling students they're awesome and offer "brain" incentives when they show applied knowledge.

All around her room, students also encounter reminders of their ability to learn.  There are countless messages stating "I can."  Bryan says "we can do this.  Together we can learn to read, our ABCs and our sounds, and we want them to have some confidence... Build some confidence in them."

Bryan wears a smile to work everyday and exercises patience with her students.  She always knew she wanted to be a teacher, and even played teacher with her next door neighbor while growing up.

Bryan's career path serves as a testimony to the great educators that taught her.  Now she works to ignite that same spark for knowledge in her students.  "I love that excitement that they give to me.  They keep me excited and I love how they love to learn."

When many of her students started class last fall, they couldn't read.  Bryan says watching a child grow throughout the school year provides her with constant highlights.  "Just for the children to learn their sight words and learn to read, I love that.  If they learn to read, I love that.  When they can read a little story to me or a little book."
