UPDATE from CPD: The tractor-trailer has been removed from I-24 and southbound lanes have been reopened.  It was reported that a van sideswiped the tractor-trailer causing it to overturn.  It was hauling containers of liquid floor stripper and a few gallons spilled onto the roadway; however, it is not considered harmful to the community.

I-75 southbound at East Brainerd Road has been shut down since approximately 5:10 a.m. due to an overturned tractor trailer that was hauling hazardous materials.  All southbound lanes of traffic are currently blocked and it is unknown when it will be reopened.  Chattanooga Police ask that motorists use an alternate route until further notice.
