CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF-TV)--- Did the producers of the new Iron Man movie take a cheap shot at Chattanooga?
Some movie-goers thought so, although the film is getting rave reviews locally.

Iron Man 3 is now on screens in Chattanooga and although none of it was filmed here, the scenic city is featured for about 5 minutes.

For those who don't know , "Iron Man 3" stars Robert Downey Jr. as the super-hero in an armored suit.
The first two Iron Man movies racked-up more than 1 and a half billion dollars at the box office.
So Far---so good!
But in one scene, Downey, in character walks into a television news truck and notes the internet here is not very good.

JODA THONGNAPNUA, MOVIEGOER "Ha, ha, ha..I thought it was funny. I thought it was unbelieveable for sure. If Tony he,Tony Stark is supposed to be as smart as he is..he should know that Chattanooga has the fastest internet speed in the western hemisphere."

Joda, who says he's a "tecky" wondered if ownership of the movie had anything to do with the remark.

JODA THONGNAPNUA "The connections has to the Universal..and Universal has the Comcast..and there's Verizon branding everywhere..big competitors with our internet provider. I though it was a decent corporate dig at our internet speed."

CHRIS KIDWELL, CHATTANOOGA "What little I know as a consumer about using internet service..that was uh..if I was in a room and I heard it..I would have done a 'boo" at the moment. Because that's not right."

Others who saw the movie today caught that statement but didn't necessarily feel offended by it.

NOAH PENDERGRASS, COLLEGE STUDENT "The whole scene, too..didn't make Chattanooga look super-good in my opinion."

CORNELIUS HEGEMAN, COLLEGE STUDENT "Oh, I didn't make that connection, because I thought they were using satellite internet...but its funny now..yeah."

An EPB spokesman says management hasn't seen the movie and can't comment.
No response from city leaders, either.
