Theres no question that lady bugs seem to be everywhere right now.
Representatives with the Hamilton County UT Extension say that the proper name is Lady Beetle. They say they come to the Tennessee Valley routinely every third week of October. Every time the weather gets cold and then warm again the beetle comes out. Tom Stebbins, Hamilton County UT Extension Agent said, "These things were introduced around the early 1900's in agriculture and they are very beneficial. Probably for a year, they produce millions and millions of dollars given back to fruit growers, pecan growers, vegetable growers because they go after little tiny insects called aphids."
Representatives say its nothing to be alarmed about and they will be gone the next time it freezes.
