David Jolley says bed bugs have infested his apartment off of highway 58 that he has lived in for almost five months.
The apartment is already furnished and he woke up to them crawling on him in his bed. He said he turned on the light and saw bed bugs crawling everywhere. They were all over the walls, in the outlets, going through the air conditioner and all over him. Jolley says he took the issue to his landlord, and an exterminator said everything needed to be removed. He only got a new mattress and the exterminator treated his carpet around the perimeter of his apartment.
David Jolley said, "I came back and there was a horrible smell in the apartment for days. It smelled like somebody died. And it wasn't fixed."
Jolley says his landlord accused him of bringing the bugs into his apartment and threatened to evict him. One neighbor from the complex agrees with Jolley and says something needs to be done. April Smith, Resident said, "Management here says that bed bugs is no problem at all. They say that they are completely harmless and it isn't something to worry about, but it is absolutely something to worry about."
Representatives from the complex off of highway 58 provided WDEF with documentation on the alleged issue. The property manager inspected the units and spoke with tenants. An extensive and comprehensive treatment was performed to the unit. No bed bugs were found in the set traps.
