JASPER, TN, (WDEF)-Felons of all ages from across Marion County came to the Judicial Complex in Jasper  Tuesday, all with high hopes.

For the folks here in Marion County it's about being given a second chance and for some of them it's the first time they will ever have made a resume.

Kayla Reitenbaugh, Felon,"Hopefully i'll find a good paying job that I can start rebuilding my life"

Kayla says she has been looking for work for months from everywhere from local stores to Amazon, but is not giving up.

"Just try your hardest to look for a job, keep working and working and eventually someone will hire you"

Carpenter James Webb says he's been rejected by employers for nearly 8 years.

"Any floor covering job you go on you go into people's houses and they don't want you in them because you got the word felon written on you"

Webb believes the Department of Corrections  life coaches and career workshops can help him show future employers he's a changed man.

"You make a mistake in life yea I did, because I had a hard time, marriages, divorces, kids losing your kids is tough one, I feel into alcohol and drugs"

The parole officers say their program works.

Joseph Dichiacchio, Board of Probation and Parole,"Individuals that we have been able to place on jobs and they have been successful out there, they've been able to stay there a while and work up the ladder, get that first step in changing their lives"

The coaches dealt with dozens of felons throughout the day focusing on presentation skills, job databases and using   technology in the workplace.
