"Seems weird that it's September 26th, and we are sitting here starting about the start of practice."
Good thing colleges can start practice earlier now, gives UTC more time to adjust to Coach Wade's up-tempo Chaos. Summer workouts were certainly full of chaos. Said forward Z Mason,"First week when we first got in, I couldn't imagine going through this another two or three more weeks." Added Wade,"They survived some grueling strength and conditioning stuff. Some grueling on the court workouts." Said Mason,"It definitely helped us be in the best shape of our lives. I feel like I'm in the best shape I have ever been in."
UTC even had a Navy Seal come in for a training session. Said Mason,"I mean waking up at 4:30 in the morning is not fun. Definitely just going through it all as a team. Type of stuff we were doing, it was all fun. We all enjoyed it."
The Mocs are taking all the steps to become a lean, mean, basketball machine. Said Mason,"We have a heart monitor system. Kind of tells us how many calories we've lost that night at practice. Kind of how our bodies have been functioning throughout practice."
All that conditioning means the players have to eat a lot. So the guys have to make breakfast. Said forward Casey Jones,"No canceling. Nothing will get in the way. Going to have breakfast every single morning. After a hard day of practice like this morning, one player lost 1,500 calories. So this morning, he made it up with 1,500 calories worth of food."
Reporter-"So you have to be told to eat now?" Said Jones,"I guess it's voluntary." (laughter) "I mean you know...Z." (laughter) Said Jones,"We are going to look amazing. Chaos baby."
