CHATTANOOGA, TN, (WDEF)- Don't be surprised if you feel an itch this weekend.

Mosquitoes are on their way.

Brad Ledford, exterminator for  Mosquito Chattanooga,"With the rains that we have had, they are definitely going to be coming out, here probably this weekend, because it does take after a good flood event like what we have had, it does take five to seven days.">[Duration:0:10]

Bonnie Deakins of Hamilton County Health Dept says the flood mosquitoes are not the real concern.

"The flood type of mosquitoes do not normally carry disease, the mosquitoes that breed around people's yards in little containers of water like toys or bird baths or dog bowls, those  are the ones you have to watch out for regarding West Nile Virus mosquitoes"

Chattanooga Pharmacist John Swann says there are solutions that can help stop the itch.

John Swann, "some aloe, of course hydro cortizone cream, benadryl cream, sometimes I don't how effective but taking vitamin b6 not a mass doss, just a normal dosage can prevent them biting quiet as much"

Dr Marc Cromie of Chattanooga Allergy clinic says allergic reactions to bites and creams are not that common  here but has advice for anyone with a severe reaction.

"Anti inflammatory  cremes, like steroid creams, or worse case scenario if they have trouble breathing, they might need an epipen or get to an emergency room, typically true allergies to mosquito bites are very rare we don't see too many here"

Everyone we spoke to said taking care to check your skin and wear appropriate clothing can prevent being bitten in the first place.
