CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - A man is in critical condition after police say he was struck by a car.

It happened just before 10 A.M on 1100 block of Workman Avenue.

Police say the driver of a car that was traveling westbound on Workman and may not have seen the pedestrian until it was too late.

That stretch of the roadway has no sidewalks.

"We have to learn to share the road. Pedestrians actually have the right of way in most cases but you just have to pay attention to what's going on like with bicycles and other things. Look ahead to see what's going on so that way you don't get blind sided like in this case. I don't think he ever got to see him," said Chattanooga Police Sgt. Wayne Jefferson.

So far, no charges have been filed against the driver and the investigation is ongoing.
