Neighbors call it another senseless act of violence, 29 year old Darrell Tremel Lane gunned down in this driveway at 222 Tunnel Boulevard.
"I grew up in this area and I've been here all my life. I have family still in this area. I'm here every day. I have experienced some of the same kind of random violence in my life. I lost my brother 15 years ago to a senseless act of violence it just breaks my heart. That's somebody's child, that's somebody's child," says Pamela Hennessee.
Police are still investigating the crime and looking for a suspect.
"It is not believed he lived at the residence it's just where it occurred at. Investigators have been told that another black male suspect is the one that shot him and that he had fled the scene in a silver hatchback," says Ofc. Nathan Hartwig of the Chattanooga Police Department.
Chattanooga police do not believe the gangs are involved..and ask for the public's help in finding the gunman.
"The victim was targeted by the suspect and there's no indication that its gang related but we do believe that he was targeted. There were multiple shots fired and again you know as normal we just ask anyone that has an information on this shooting to call the police department," Hartwig says.
For Pamela Hennessee, its another heartbreaking loss in a neighborhood she sees changing.
"The old cliché of people actually went to sleep with their doors unlocked is actually true. Today, I don't think anybody would go to sleep without a chain on their door. That's how it's changed."
In light of the latest events, she worries about one thing.
"Safety because my family includes very small children and young males between the ages that are critically in danger right now. Life is hard, it's hard for everybody and if you don't have a plan, then this happens...this happens."
