(WDEF) If you've spent any time in the Scenic City, you know there are times when parts of the city just stink.
It happens in every city, and Chattanooga's no exception.
When a long-lasting odor disrupts your life, you can call the Chattanooga Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau.
The agency will investigate outdoor odors stemming from industries in the area.
But in the case of some odors, like chicken processing plants, there's not much anyone can do.
Investigator John Schultz with the Air Pollution Control Bureau, "We permit some of the chicken facilities as an odor source and they have permit conditions that they have to follow, which, they've come a long way, but the chickens still stink.
Schultz admits the scent can be worse on rainy days either at the plant or on the farm...
Since wet chicken kind of smells like wet dog.
