Traffic came to a complete stop and residents of Chatsworth watched a red vehicle being pulled out from under a train in disbelief.
Lynda Wilson, Chatsworth resident said, "We were sitting at Hardee's and we kept hearing ambulances and fire trucks and everything. And we come down the road and we seen the car or some kind of vehicle was under the train." Cecil Hall, Eton resident said, "I can't even tell what it is, its wadded up so bad. I can't make out what kind of vehicle it is." The train came to a stop across the street from Wendy's restaurant. That's where emergency responders, Chatsworth Sheriff's Department and Chatsworth Fire Department arrived on scene around 10am Wednesday morning Matthew Jones, Chatsworth said, "I was just passing by and you know we got stuck in the traffic, and we pulled in here and from the looks of it, that someone had to die from that. Its just a massive ball of metal."
Chatsworth Chief of Police, Terry Martin said one woman died in the vehicle. The train took the vehicle down the tracks about 100 yards. Martin said, "The train wasn't going all that fast, but we cant figure out. We are still investigating how she got down on the tracks at this time." Officials say there was no railroad crossing or intersection of any kind where the car was initially hit.
