CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Two men were arrested in connection to a Friday morning burglary that was originally identified as a home invasion.
It happened on the 2800 block of Ocoee St.
Destiny Solomon was inside the home by herself when someone knocked on the front door. When she went to see who it was, two men reportedly broke through her bedroom window to get inside.
Police identified the two men as Cal Dominique, 20 of Chattanooga and Michael Manley, 25 of Chattanooga.
"I heard a big noise and I looked and noticed my blinds were broken. So I knew someone was breaking in the house. I called my mom and she told me to hide. So I hid and called the police. I heard the two men in the house and I heard them calling each others names," she said.
Solomon stayed hidden inside a locked bedroom but one of the suspects allegedly used a knife to get past the lock and walked into the room but didn't notice Solomon hiding in the shower.
The two men also reportedly disabled a security camera to avoid being captured on video.
While the two suspects were inside the house, Solomon's mother, Sharon Lowe, was trying to hurry home while hoping police were already on scene.
"She was here by herself in the house and you know different kinds of stuff was going through my head as I'm trying to get here to her," Lowe said.
A nearby police officer who was responding to the call captured the two men before they could get away in a SUV.
The officer searched the vehicle and found items that were reported stolen from the house.
According to the police report, Cal admitted to the crime but also told the officer that Manley was not involved.
A judge set a bond of $50,000 for both men.
The family is certain the same two men are responsible for a previous burglary.
"When they came the first time they took a lot of stuff. So they came back thinking they would get the same thing," Solomon said.
