Marion County hits the road for the quarterfinals of the state playoffs against Friendship Christian. The Warriors will give the Commanders a steady dose of the Zemen brothers. Senior Matt Zemen and Sophomore Blake Zemen.

Matt and Blake Zemen are your typical brothers. They enjoy playing sports, and the occasional brotherly feud. Said Matt,"We fight at home, but all brothers do. We don't like fist fight. Just trash talking each other and everything like that." Reporter-"How much football did ya'll play together in the backyard growing up?" Said Matt,"Gosh, I couldn't tell you. It was every day. Every single hour of the day." They now have a 50-yard football field at home. Said Blake,"We marked stuff off where we have touchdowns and out-of-bounds."

Matt is the Warriors quarterback, while Blake is the team's running back. Said Marion Co head coach Mac McCurry,"I'd say the two of them would account for probably at least 80-percent of our offense."

No wonder they've been dubbed the Z-train. Coach McCurry says Matt has completed nearly 70-percent of his passes this season, while Blake has rushed for over 1,700 yards. So who's the better player? Said Blake,"I'd probably say him." Reporter-"What would he say?" Said Blake,"Probably me." Added Matt,"He loves to play defense. I love playing defense too. I'm just not very good at it."

Reporter-"What makes Matt a good quarterback for Marion County." Said McCurry,"Matt is very confident. He expects every throw to be on location."

Reporter-"What makes Blake a good runner?" Said McCurry,"He's a rare combination of size, speed, and athleticism as far as his feet."

And both Zemen brothers have enjoyed their time together on the gridiron for Marion County this season. Said Blake,"I've been looking forward since I was in little league. I've always wanted to play with him." Said McCurry,"These two young men have really enjoyed this year in particular because I think both of them realize this may be the last time they'll ever get to play together."
