Here's the press release from Chattanooga Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary:

A 15-year-old boy was shot and critically injured just before two o'clock this morning while standing in a downtown parking lot. According to witnesses, the boy and several others were congregated at 300 Walnut Street when a white vehicle entered the parking lot. After circling the lot a few times, someone from the vehicle began firing. The victim was shot in the chest while running from the gun fire.

A friend of the victim was in the process of transporting the victim to the hospital when they were involved in a head-on collision near 900 E 3rd Street. The victim of the shooting was taken on the Erlanger by another personal vehicle prior to police arrival and is currently listed in critical condition. The condition of those involved in the accident is unknown. Investigators are working on suspect leads.

Dont try to drive your friend to the ER

This "friend" of his was not doing him a favor by driving him to the ER. He was probably just going to drop him off at the ER and drive away so they would not be questioned by the cops. Driving recklessly and irresponsibility he involved another driver who did not need to be punished/injured because of the many stupid decisions that led to the collision.

You don't REALLY think this

You don't REALLY think this was some innocent coincidence, do you? A group of teens congregating in a parking lot at 2 o'clock in the morning. What do you suppose they were doing? Prayer vigil for the poor lost souls? Please! They were up to no good and got what was needed. Maybe, just maybe, now one or 2 of the others willwake up and realize that stupid behavior with stupid friends leads to stupid death.

The person who posted the

The person who posted the comment, July 6, 2009 - 1:14pm, sounds like a real jerk. Being out late at night is far from justification for someone shooting at them. Assuming they were "up to no good" and stating "they got what was needed" makes it sound like YOU may have well been in that van. Maybe You need to be under investigation - ya think?

Sounds like Darwinism in

Sounds like Darwinism in action to me. Anybody out past around midnight in this town where the sidewalks are rolled up at ten sure ain't selling Scout cookies there, Einstein! YA' THINK?!

Ok, the story has aired on

Ok, the story has aired on the news since then and now we can talk about it in all it's glory. You think what I posted was in error. Let's see. The news said this kid was out with his father at the time of the shooting. First, what father has his kid out at 2am at a bar? Right.... Second, if dad was there, why was the kid driven away from the scene by another bunch of kids - who wound up in a head on collision? Yeah, this all makes perfect sense. They must have been there handing out tracts and praying for the passers by. Give me a break! This kid got what was comming to him. You think I was in error with my first post? You ought to love this one!

Why someone would want to

Why someone would want to randomly take someones life is beyond me. I pray that they find the ones involved and they pay for their evil. I also pray the victims do well and recover from this heinous act.
