Alabama Republicans Respond to 60 Minutes Report
Republicans have a different story to tell today concerning a Sand Mountain attorney's interview on 60 Minutes last night.
Jill Simpson is from Rainsville.
She talked about her experience working for Alabama republicans.
Simpson alleged that Karl Rove lead a secret five year campaign to get Democratic Governor Don Siegelman.
Here is the rebuttal today from Alabama.
Simpson was just a low level party employee who would not have had the kind of access she claims.
She never mentioned any personal conversations with Rove before.. Even when she was giving a sworn deposition to Congress.
And they also say that.. despite claiming to be a party insider.. No one in the state party had ever heard of her until she began making accusations.
Meanwhile... Attorneys for Don Siegelman want the Justice Department to step in.
They are asking for a special prosecutor to look into his case.
They say prosecutors told a key government witness to write out his allegations against the Governor to.. Quote... "get his story straight."
The incident was also talked about in the 60 minutes report.
McCain's ethics!!!??? Like
McCain's ethics!!!??? Like Bush's ethics...he was clean up he White House and look how corrupt that is now.
Certainly he has reinvented himself as a ethical man
but you can't change your history. He has been my senator for years now and ethics are not his strength. He is the lobbyists best friend, he was Keatings best supporter, he publically called a President's daughter ugly, he has flip flopped on the torture issue, he has sold his soul, he won't be cleaning anything up...sorry.
Blackout
As if I needed more reasons to be sickened by the way people operate in politics.... Channel 19 jumps into the sewer with Fox news and the rest of the right wing. The attitude that presides in this nation regarding tolerance and equality is shameful. Huntsville Alabama, one of the most progressive cities in the south.. yeah right. This viewer will turn the channel away from 19, thankfully the Birmingham station has a bit more integrity.
WHNT Alabama TV Blacks out Siegelman Story on 60 Minutes
Yes, and I am sure that had nothing to do with Republican Bass Brothers and close George W. Bush Friends owning the Station.
Funny thing, honest people tend to be honest and dishonest dishonest, corrupt people tend to hideously consistant in their dishonesty.
WHNT said it transmitter went down the exact time it took to run the Siegelman Story, maybe they feel we have no right to know the truth and wasn't it thoughtful that they made sure they we didn't hear truth.
Good Going, Carl Rove, Alberto Gonzales and George W. Bush

AL JAZEER TV IN ALABAMA
DON'T IT SEEM LIKE THE GOVERNMENT TENDS TO STEP ON OUR LIBERTIES (LIKE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS) WHENEVER THEY FEEL LIKE IT? HEAVEN FORBID ALABAMA KNOW THE TRUTH. THEY MIGHT ACTUALLY VOTE HIM BACK INTO OFFICE AFTER HIS PRISON TERM IS UP.... I SAW THE SHOW AND IT WAS QUESTIONABLE IF HE WAS EVEN GUILTY OF THE CHARGES HE WENT TO PRISON FOR...
LIKE AL JAZEER TV IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Alabama's Extreme Left GOP
“60 Minutes Done A Great Job”
The Bush’s elete group of corrupt GOP’ers are scared to death that Don Siegelman may be on the streets before the election. Slick Bob is so nervous that he is combing his hair and spraying his mouth and under arms every five minutes for two reasons: He’s hoping that the next president will be John McCain a republican and that Riley will be asked to be McCain's running mate. If the next president is a Democrat he/she will probally appoint new U.S. Attorneys in Alabama. Riley along with most of the top GOP operatives could get Federal charges filed against them for taking millions of dollars from Michael Scanlon and Jack Abramoff. This money was used to defeat Siegelman's lottery and to fund Riley's two campaigns for governor.
Maybe that next democrat
Maybe that next democrat president could appoint Ward Crutchfield as the new US Attorney for Alabama. Billy Long could be his chief investigator. William Cotton and Charlie Love could be his "assistants".

Maybe even McCain
One of the former US attys who is calling for an investigation of the railroading of Don Siegilman is a Republican from Arizona, who now is helping to run the McCain campaign. Ethical people from both sides of the aisle are outraged by this.
If McCain wins the election, a true test of his ethics will be to see if he will restore (long-missing) integrity to the White House, the Republican Party, and to Alabama, by appointing new US atty's for Alabama anyway.
PS: I don't care how low on the totem pole Jill Simpson was. Good for her for speaking her conscience.
