Representatives were on hand today at the drivers license center on Bonny Oaks. They say 98,000 people in the United States are waiting for transplants. Two thousand of those are here in Tennessee. They hope to boost registration in the state from 24 to 50 percent.
Dawn Benjamin, TN Donor Services, "We have stats that indicate that 90 percent of people in the U.S. think that organ donation is a wonderful idea, but they haven't documented their decision so I think they put if off, they don't want to think about it."
Statistics show everyday about 77 people receive life saving organ transplants.
