BlueCross Reward For Information On Noose Incidents
The contractor at new BlueCross site offers a reward for information about another incident.
Workers found nooses on the Cameron Hill construction site.
The Skanska EMJ Russell company is offering ten-thousand-dollars for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of suspects involved in a hate crime.
John Reyhan with Skanska says, "We're hoping that by offering the reward it will expedite the identification of those that are responsible, and hopefully we'll be able to bring this to a close very quickly."
They've also set up a toll-free phone line for workers to report racial problems, requiring sensitivity training, and increasing security.
I think the site should be
I think the site should be torn down and a memorial put in its place.
Offense Needed
Listen the truth is that this needed to happen. I have seen the movie and Stiller is right to assert that the scenes poke fun at the actors who exploit the disabled, not the disabled themselves. However I also understand how ignorance could misconstrue this situation and find it deplorable (or funny in a mean-spirited way). The truth is the r-word is over used and as taken on a derogatory meaning. The disabled have been under represented throughout time and they do deserve a responsible voice, in fact they deserve the contribution of everyone's voice. The fact is that this word needs publicity because the less we talk about it the further it becomes "ok" to say. I do feel that the movie should have had a scene honoring that the disabled are human beings and are nothing less than that. However I doubt that many of those involved truly know the experience of a disabled person or their families. So in that I understand their usage. Here's hoping that such jokes will be unnecessary in the future. If Hollywood is to tell the story of a disabled person, they better truly understand it because any half-hearted attempt is utterly disrespectful. And those are the films that deserve protest.
DISABLED
NO ONE KNOWS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE DISABLED UNTILL THEY "EXPERIENCE" BEING "DISABLED". BECAUSE I'M "DISABLED MYSELF" I KNOW HOW IT FEELS NO ONE CAN TELL ME HOW IT FEELS FOR REAL. "I KNOW" AND I'VE ALL SO HAD "CANCER" TO GO ALONG WITH THAT REMARK" DISABLED."
Disabled?!
I think the only thing disabled about you is you don't know which key to toggle when it comes to writing in all caps. (P.S. you can find it between the "Tab" and left "Shift" keys!)
